Dystonia Society (DS)
DS was first established by a small group of people who had various forms of dystonia, in 1983.Its initial aims were to provide mutual support for those affected by dystonia, and to raise awareness of the condition, particularly among the medical profession, through education and the promotion of research. It first became a registered charity in 1984, and its principal aims and objectives have remained the same throughout the past twenty years. Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder. It causes involuntary muscle contractions which lead the affected parts of the body to develop abnormal movements or postures, with or without tremor. There are estimated to be 40,000 people living with dystonia in the UK Comments: 0; Added: 01-01-1970)

London Disability Arts Forum (LDAF)
LDAF is a disability-led organisation focused on promoting Disability Arts and the work of disabled artists. LDAF was founded in 1986 by a group of disabled artists and activists frustrated by the lack of provision for disabled people in the arts world. Access to the mainstream arts was very limited and the arts in no way reflected the experience of disabled people, who comprise at least 17% of the population. Comments: 0; Added: 01-01-1970)
