Sign Community / British Deaf Association 1.0
BDA is the largest Deaf organisation in the UK that is run by Deaf people. We represent the Sign Language community, which is united by shared experiences, history and, most importantly, by British Sign Language (BSL). The BDA wants to see a society where Sign Language users have the same rights, responsibilities, opportunities and quality of life as everyone else. BSL was recognised as an official British language on 18 th March 2003, but it still does not have any legal protection. This means that Deaf Sign Language users do not have full access to vital information and services, including education, health and employment. We want to see an end to this.

Aspire 4.0
Our services cover a diverse range of areas, all of which we know are in demand by many of the 40,000 people living with spinal cord injury in the UK. Sometimes we are called upon to provide a practical solution; a grant for a wheelchair that will give the user independent mobility for the first time since their injury or supported housing that will allow the tenant to move out of a care home, for example.

Health information at your fingertips - Patient UK
Patient UK was first launched in 1997 by PiP (Patient Information Publications). It started as a directory of UK websites which provided information of health, disease and related issues. In December 2002, Patient UK was re-launched as a joint venture between PiP and EMIS (Egton Medical Information Systems). For the re-launch Patient UK has been extensively revised and considerably more content has been added. Our aim is to be a reliable and comprehensive source of health and disease information, mainly aimed at the UK general public, but of interest to all.
