Dairy of a goldfish - Blogging Against Disablism Day
Personal blog with a twist. Blogging Against Disablism Day is an annual event in which disabled and non-disabled bloggers throughout the world unite in the cause of equality. On May 1st, bloggers shall write about their experiences, observations and thoughts about disability discrimination (disablism, sometimes ableism) and what we might do about it. This site is home to painter, Mike Juggins In my heart and in my soul I am a painter... So after years of rewarding work on the issue of dyslexia and running community arts projects, with people from societies margins, I have finally found time to build my own art site. Down's Syndrome Association (DSA)
We are the only organisation in this country focusing solely on all aspects of living successfully with Down’s syndrome. Since 1970, we have grown from being a local parent support group to a national charity with over 20,000 members, a national office in Teddington Middlesex, offices in Northern Ireland and Wales and a regional development team. Despite this, the organisation is run by a total staff of only 38 (many of them part time), and a network of around 100 regional volunteer-led support groups. Comments: 0; Added: 10-10-2007)

Association of Disabled Professionals
Our services include the provision of employment advice, information and/or peer support for the very many disabled people who contact our helpline and their advisors or friends. We have a 24-hour answerphone service where disabled people can seek advice and support from another disabled person. We feel this is very important as we have learnt that disabled people have a particular, specific, and real need to receive information from other disabled people about issues relating to education, employment and training. Baywatch Campaign
Many disabled people rely on a car to get around. Although there is some accessible public transport it`s still few and far between in many areas. To make full use of their car disabled people rely on being able to park close to their destination. The blue badge scheme and the provision of designated parking for disabled people is supposed to make it easier but all too often disabled people find they can not park because other non-badge holders have parked in the disabled spaces. The Baywatch Campaign has been set up with the objective of ending this abuse. Comments: 0; Added: 03-10-2007)

Disapedia
Disapedia was created by Peter O'Connell on May 21st 2007. It was spurred on by the belief that, while there were many fantastic resources on the internet for disabled individuals, many were neglected, outdated and inaccessible. His belief was that a centralized location maintained by a community of disabled individuals would insure that the information on the website always remained up to date and could help ease the lives of other disabled people Comments: 0; Added: 09-10-2007)
